A primary school teacher in Masaba North, Nyamira County is on the run after he purportedly defiled a 14-year-old girl he taught.
The pupil sat the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) national examination and got her results last week on Thursday.
Confirming the incident Masaba North Deputy County Commissioner David Lusavastated that the matter was reported by the pupil’s parents after she informed them about the incident.
Lusava stated that the family suspected the teacher had been in a long relationship with the girl. They said they proved last weekend.
“The issue was reported but, unfortunately, the teacher was not arrested, as he had already escaped by the time action was taken. Efforts are being made to trace the suspect,” Lusava said, adding the case was the fourth such to be recorded in the past 3 days.
