Chelsea Grants Player Permission to Depart Amidst Everton’s Pursuit – Latest Report

Everton transfer news as Trevoh Chalobah is permitted to depart Chelsea.

Team Talk reports that Chelsea have informed defender Trevoh Chalobah that he is free to leave the club, with Everton interested in signing the 24-year-old.

As a result of Wesley Fofana’s injury, the Blues decided to sign Monaco defender Axel Disasi instead of Chalobah, according to a report on a football news website on Saturday (5 August).

Everton are one of several Premier League and European clubs interested in acquiring Chalobah’s services, as Sean Dyche looks to bolster his defense ahead of the upcoming season.

It has been suggested that a loan-to-buy arrangement could be embraced at Stamford Bridge, something that will undoubtedly appeal to the Toffees as they attempt to navigate the window.

An expensive purchase

Whether or not Chelsea maintain their valuation as high as previously reported now that they have informed Chalobah that he can leave is uncertain, but a transfer is likely to be costly given the centre-back’s contract runs through 2028.

Chalobah is an exciting prospect with plenty of Premier League and European experience for his age; he would add a new dimension to the Toffees’ defense; and he would likely represent greater value than Harry Maguire this summer.

Everton may find it difficult to convince the 24-year-old that his future resides at Goodison, as many of his other potential suitors operate in European competitions and many of his fellow Cobham graduates, such as Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham, have excelled on the continent.

The Toffees should pursue the deal if they can afford Chalobah and persuade him that Goodison Park is the best location for his development, but this may be easier said than done.
