KUCCPS opens the 2nd Revision of choices for placement of 32,718 candidates who missed their degree choices

Nearly all the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates who qualified for degree programmes applied for university places during the first revision that ended on June 11, 2021.

Data from the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) indicate that out of the 142,540 Kenyan citizens who obtained the minimum university entry mean grade of C+ plus and above, 131,833 candidates or 92.5 per cent applied for their preferred courses in local public and private universities and TVET colleges.

According to KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome, 94,275 candidates have been placed to the degree courses they selected during the first phase of the placement exercise. All applicants who have secured a programme will be notified through their student portals on June 22, 2021.

Dr Wahome has said the Agency has from Tuesday, June 222021, reopened the application portal to allow 32,718 candidates with C+ and above who missed out on their degree choices to reapply.

She has called upon 10,707 candidates with C + and above from the KCSE class of 2020 who did not submit any application to do so.

“We do not wish to leave behind any candidate qualified to join university hence our move to allow those yet to be placed to make a second revision,” Dr Wahome said.

Dr Wahome said that all efforts were being made to track 10,707 candidates with C+ and above who failed to apply for courses in universities “in the spirit of leaving no one behind”.

The application is for:

  1. 10,707 candidates with C + and above from the KCSE class of 2020 who did not make any application for degree courses;
  2. Candidates who applied for degree programmes during the recent application/first revision period and have not secured a course due to competition All candidates who scored between C plain and E from the year 2000 to 2020 and have not had the opportunity to apply for NET courses

How do I know if I have not secured a course?

Look for your KCSE index number in the list published on the KUCCPS website www.kuccps.ac.ke If you find it, you are required to log in to the Student’s Portal and submit a new application for your preferred courses.

With any KCSE grade, you have an opportunity to pursue a course of your choice under government sponsorship. Application/Course Revision Dates: June 22;2021 to July 5, 2021.

Dr Wahome said the high application rate was attributable to the robust public mobilisation campaign that KUCCPS conducted online, through the mass media and in the counties after the KCSE examination results were released, in line with and order by Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha.

The second revision exercise will close on July 5, 2021
