The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recently introduced the revised salary scale for the 2023-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which brings significant changes to the compensation structure for educators in Kenya.
This development, effective for the 2021-2025 period, holds great importance for teachers at various educational levels. Chief Principals (T-Scale 15), who hold pivotal roles in the education sector, will experience salary adjustments ranging from Sh131,380 to Sh157,656 per month, highlighting the value of their contributions to the education system.
Similarly, Senior Principals (T-Scale 14) play vital roles, and their salaries are expected to range from Sh118,242 to Sh121,890 monthly, recognizing their dedication and leadership in the education field. Principals (T-Scale 13) will now see their responsibilities reflected in a salary range of Sh104,644 per month, further acknowledging their integral role in the school system.

Deputy Principals III, with their specific duties, will earn a fixed salary starting from Sh91,041 per month, providing financial security for their roles. Senior Head Teachers, Senior Master II, and Deputy Principals IV (T-Scale 11) hold leadership positions, with a basic salary of Sh77,840 monthly, acknowledging the significance of their responsibilities.
Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers I, and Senior Master III (T-Scale 10) will now receive a basic salary of Sh62,272 per month, reflecting the essential roles they play in the education sector. Deputy Head Teacher II (Grade C4) fulfills a unique role and can expect a monthly salary ranging from Sh45,287 to Sh52,308. This adjustment ensures that their contributions are recognized and rewarded.
For Secondary Teacher I and Senior Teacher I (Grade C3), the salary will range from Sh43,147 to Sh53,943 per month, reflecting the value of their work in secondary education. Senior Teacher II, Secondary Teacher II, and Secondary Teacher II Untrained (UT) (Grade C2) play crucial roles and will receive a salary range of Sh34,955 per month.
Primary Teacher I and Secondary Teacher III (Grade C1) are essential in the education system, and their salary range is from Sh27,195 to Sh33,994 per month. Primary Teacher II (Grade B5) has distinct duties and will earn a monthly salary ranging from Sh21,756 to Sh27,195.
These salary adjustments result from the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement, emphasizing the government’s commitment to recognizing teachers’ contributions and ensuring they are fairly compensated for their efforts in molding the nation’s future.
