The commission wants teachers to always be at school on school days, whether they are on job or not. In response to this, tsc has come up with a new way to stop teachers from not coming to work.

The commission now tells teachers that if they want to be out of school, they have to ask permission online.
The commission has more than 300,000 teachers on its list. Because there are so many, the commission wants to make sure that teachers don’t always skip work on purpose to stop learning.

Our government has made schooling almost free in our country. Most of the time, the government gives all public schools in the country the tools they need to teach.
In this case, the committee says again that teachers and heads of institutions need to be at schools all the time to help students. In a recent letter sent to all school heads and curriculum support officers by the commission, all teachers are asked to make sure that teachers don’t miss work.

In the past few years, the Teachers Service Commission and the Education Ministry have been at odds with each other. Lately, the commission has canceled some events for teachers that were planned by the ministry of education.
The commission says again that these events usually take teachers out of school, which hurts the students a lot. Now, if a TSC teacher needs to be away from school, they must ask for clearance in writing and send it to the TSC headquarters online.

At first, teachers who wanted to leave school had to ask the school director and write it down in the official school diary.
If a primary school principal needs to be away from school, they will now have to ask the TSC sub county director for written clearance. Also, if school money is going to be used outside of the school, they need to get clearance from the sub county director.

As a way to get teachers to show up more often, the commission also asked that all events involving teachers take place on school breaks and weekends. The same rule applies to the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association and Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association conferences.
Also, all TSC-registered teachers who are chosen leaders of unions or Saccos plan their meetings and conferences for weekends and school breaks. During official teaching and learning hours, teachers won’t do anything that isn’t part of their main teaching job.

So that lessons don’t go unattended, plans need to be made locally when a teacher who has permission online can’t be there. The commission also wants a list of all lessons that haven’t been given.
