Fabrizio Romano provided an update on David Raya’s situation and a prospective transfer to Arsenal.

The Spanish goalkeeper is believed to be at the top of Arsenal’s wish list, and the Gunners are attempting to sign the Brentford star.

With Matt Turner possibly on the cusp of joining Nottingham Forest, the Gunners will want a deal for Raya to be finalized as soon as possible.

Today on his YouTube channel, Romano stated that the Arsenal camp is optimistic about Raya, and that the player himself is pushing hard for the transaction to go through.

“David Raya, there is optimism on the Arsenal side. They’ve made a bid of around £20m plus add-ons. Brentford are not keen on selling for that price,” Romano stated.

“But, it is the intention of both sides to find a solution because Raya is pushing. He wants to sign for Arsenal. He’s really pushing with Brentford so the conversation continues. But Arsenal are optimistic and confident.”

Raya joined Brentford for a discounted price after demonstrating his talent at Blackburn.

 Since then, he has been an integral part of their success and Spurs were extensively linked to signing him. It appears he will now reside in the crimson half of north London.

And only Mikel Arteta will know how he will handle this circumstance. Raya surely is not signing with Arsenal to remain on the bench behind Ramsdale.

After performing so well, Ramsdale is not going to let his position as number one slide away.
