On Saturday, July 15, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), which puts pupils in programmes leading to a diploma in teaching, reopened its online application portal.

13 439 spaces are available for enrollment into diploma teacher training programmes, according to Ezekiel Machogu, the education cabinet secretary.

“KUCCPS, which just launched its online application portal, will handle the placement of trainees to the 32 public teacher training colleges,” stated Machogu.

In order to fill 13, 439 openings in the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) programmes, applicants will be trying to be accepted.

A mean score of C (plain) on the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam serves as the fundamental prerequisite.

There are no other topic prerequisites.

The presidential working party on education has recommended that if you have a C plain you can apply for teaching courses at Teacher Training colleges, but there has been a cluster need for subjects for individuals who want to do teaching courses despite the C Plain requirement, Machogu added.

According to Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome, chief executive officer of KUCCPS, the portal will be accessible until July 28, 2023.

Dr. Wahome stated that this chance was available to qualifying KCSE certificate holders, including non-Kenyans who took the exam in 2022 or earlier up until the year 2000.

There are 2,081 admission slots available for the DECTE course, compared to 11, 358 available spots in the DPTE programme.

It is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and apply right away in order to avoid missing out on the September intake this year for those who missed the teaching opportunity in Primary Teacher Education because to the five subjects’ condition of C plain.

To pay to KUCCPS, applicants must have Ksh1500 available on their M-pesa account.

Before the deadline, applications must be submitted through the KUCCPS site (students.kuccps.net).
