Government Announces 6,000 Internships For TVET Students

6000 Internship For TVET Students

Students undertaking their Diploma and Certificate studies in Technical And Vocational Education Training (TVET) institutes and Polytechnis are set to benefit from the 6,000 Scholarships.

The government mentioned that all the placements will be done in different Export Processing Zones (EPZ) and this will be made available to all the Pharmaceutical and apparel students.

Trade Cabinet Secretary, Moses Kuria Announced that the award of these scholarships will be done at constituency level by the MPs as it is with the bursaries.

Moses Kuria in the company of Tetu MP, Geoffrey Wandeto and other locals made this announcement during the launch of the careers and TVET day at Tetu Technical and Vocational college in Nyeri.

This announcement comes barely after the public service Commission (PSC) announced plans to recruit 1,300 trainers in Tvets in line with the president’s pledge to staff TVET institutions.

This Scholarship programs will supplement the 20,000 opportunities that were announced by the president in various government agencies.

Ruto’s Pledge To TVET Institutions

Following President Ruto’s pledge, all TVET Institutions are likely to be converted to digital academic Organization. In his statement, the president announced to supply 100 computers to TVET Institutions in phase one and each institution is set to have a digital laboratory.

These scholarships will enhance employability and increase practical experience among the TVET students.

To ensure that this programme is equitable to all students across the country, the government has partnered with the members of parliament.

Since the government is committed with increasing the capacity of lecturers in the TVETs and enabling the Institutions digitally, this will equip students with knowledge and skills that is needed in the country’s growing economy.

This program will reduce youth unemployment in the country and foster inclusive economic growth.
