Primary, secondary schools resume for 14 weeks second term
Primary and secondary education will resume this week for the lengthiest term of the 2023 academic year.
The 14-week second term will start on Monday for the pupils who were on a two-week break.
The new academic calendar indicates that the students’ break will begin on August 11.
The announcement states that pupils will be out of class from June 29 until July 2.
The Ministry of Education revised the 2023 academic year’s timetable in January, increasing the length of the national test.
Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, TSC CEO Nancy Macharia, and KNEC CEO David Njengere all received copies of the memo.
The circular states, “KCPE and KPSEA will start on November 30 and end on November 2.”
This indicates that the exam will last four days, as indicated by the original calendar.
Exams for the KCSE will be administered to students from November 3 to November 24.
The initial calendar indicated that the KCSE will occur from November 10 to December 1; this process takes 21 days.
From November 27 to December 15, the KCSE will be marked.
The first term will be 13 weeks long, the second will be 14 weeks, and the third will only be 10 weeks long.
Originally, students were expected to get a two-month holiday from November 3 through 2024, but they will instead have one from October 28 to January 8.
