CS Machogu freezes new projects in public universities
Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, has declared a moratorium on new projects in public universities until the ones that are blocked are finished.
All qualified pupils will be assigned to public institutions starting this year, unless their parents opt to send them to private universities, the CS announced at the same time.
“In such a case, no government funds will be channeled to private universities, for students who forego their slots in public universities,” CS Machogu said when he appeared before the National Assembly Public Investment Committee to answer inquiries about the funding of universities.
