TSC Suspend Delocalization As 73 Teachers Succumb To Covid-19

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has suspended the delocalization of teachers due to the covid-19 situation in the country.

Speaking at the education stakeholders meeting at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), CEO Nancy Macharia said only transfers forced by natural attrition or other factors will be effected.

“We have ensured teachers remain stable at their workplaces by putting on hold on your transfers, and only those transfers that are forced on us by natural attrition or other factors will be effected.” Said Macharia.

Macharia said 158,678 teachers have received at least the first vaccination jab.She further urged teachers who have not received any vaccination at all, to quickly go and get the jab noting that 73 teachers have so far succumbed to the virus.

“I urge the teachers who got the first dose to take advantage of the ongoing second dose vaccination exercise in a bid to gain full immunisation,” Macharia said.

“Fellow teachers, let us take the ongoing immunization exercise seriously is COVID-19 is not sparing anyone. For instance, we have so far lost 73 teachers to the virus since it was first reported in the country. And thanks to our full medical insurance cover. 454 teachers have fully recovered.” She said.

She noted that as schools reopen, teachers will be required to wear masks and wash hands regularly with soap and water or use sanitizer.
