The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) holds the responsibility for various aspects of teacher management, which include registration, recruitment, deployment, remuneration, advancement, and discipline. Furthermore, the commission is tasked with upholding professionalism, ethics, and high teaching standards within the teaching service.
These functions are executed by field agents and educational institution directors, who play pivotal roles in teacher management.
It is of utmost importance to carefully select, appoint, and train individuals suitable for leadership positions within educational institutions. This approach aligns with the Commission’s vision, objectives, and societal expectations, ultimately leading to improved performance of educational institutions and a reduction in instances of dissatisfaction and unrest.
To be eligible to lead a post-primary institution, certain qualifications must be met. Prospective candidates are required to be professionally trained university Graduate Teachers, Technical Teachers, or Lecturers employed by the Teachers Service Commission.
