TSC Boss To Appear Before Senate For Probing As The Details Emerge From KNUT.
Teaching is a noble profession characterized by the unwavering commitment and hard work of educators. Teachers play pivotal roles within a nation, primarily by imparting knowledge and vital skills to their students.
The Teachers Service Commission, an independent entity, takes on the crucial responsibilities of recruiting, deploying, and promoting qualified teachers throughout the country. Presently, Dr. Nancy Macharia serves as the Chief Executive Officer of this commission.
However, reports have surfaced from the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), asserting that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has displayed discrimination in the disbursement of hardship allowances in Taita Taveta County. KNUT has raised a petition with the Senate, contending that all teachers in the county meet the criteria for receiving hardship allowances in accordance with Legal Notice No. 534 of 1997.

It’s notable that only a select few teachers in the aforementioned county are currently eligible for hardship allowances.
In light of these developments, there is a pressing need to scrutinize the TSC leadership, particularly Dr. Nancy Macharia, to address the concerns raised by KNUT’s Taita Taveta branch. Clarification and resolution of these issues are of utmost importance.
