The Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) has prolonged the application cutoff date for the 36,000 teacher promotion vacancies to September 15, 2023.

In a TSC circular, educators will receive advancements across nine different grade levels, addressing concerns about their career progression.

This decision follows successful salary negotiation talks for teachers and these promotions will be distributed across primary and secondary schools, along with teacher-training institutions.

Among the promotions, there are 12,716 openings for the position of senior master, 10,819 teachers will be promoted to senior teacher roles in traditional primary schools, 700 openings for senior teacher positions in institutions for students with support needs, and 216 openings for the Grade C4 position of senior lecturer in teacher-training colleges.

The TSC has also posted advertisements for 108 senior principal positions and 34 chief principal positions.

Applicants must submit their applications through the TSC portal by September 15th.

This announcement comes a week after the TSC promoted 14,000 teachers who had been awaiting promotions since the previous fiscal year.

The National Treasury has allocated Ksh 1 billion for these 36,275 promotions.
