A keen resident who revisited the site after Ruto’s departure was confronted with an empty landscape. The once-active construction site had turned into a barren land with a few scattered stones and a lone beacon, serving as a reminder of political deceit.

Cars were vandalized, and pedestrians were robbed at gunpoint, transforming the once-busy road into a nightmare for motorists.
Lawlessness in Broad Daylight
The most shocking aspect of the ordeal was the blatant impunity with which the attackers operated. The wave of violence unfolded alarmingly close to both Muthaiga and Ruaraka police stations, not to mention the heavily fortified GSU barracks. Despite the proximity of law enforcement agencies, the criminals acted without fear, as if assured that the authorities would turn a blind eye.
Residents of Mathare, initially filled with hope, were left to grapple with the harsh reality of political deception and unchecked lawlessness, reinforcing their skepticism toward the government’s promises.
