TSC Teacher Interdiction offences

TSC Teacher Interdiction offences . The Teachers Service Commission ( TSC) enacted code of regulation that guide teachers in the teaching profession.

The code of regulations stipulates the offences that TSC regards are tantamount to interdiction.

The code of conduct further stipulates the necessary disciplinary action that will be taken in case a teacher contravenes these set regulations.

Authorities responsible for Teacher Interdiction

  1. School Board of Management

The Board of Management (BoM) which is comprised of the principal as the secretary acts as a representative of TSC.

The Board has the powers to interdict a teacher at the investigation stage of the teacher is found culpable of committing an offence.

2. TSC County Directors

The teachers service commission has its directors in every County. They are the  face of the teachers Service commission (TSC).

The TSC County Directors can interdict teachers but they are only limited to secondary school teachers.

3. Deputy County Directors

TSC Deputy County Directors can only interdict primary school heads and high school teachers where the Board of Management is not there or is not active.

4. TSC Sub County Directors

The sub county directors are mandated to only interdict primary school teachers.

5. TSC CEO

Dr. Nancy Macharia is the CEO of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

If the investigations are launched by the head office, the commission’s CEO is mandated to interdict the teacher upon the teacher being proven guilty of an offence.

Offences That Attract Interdiction

Before a teacher is interdicted, he/she must be investigated and upon the investigating team obtain a proof of an offence committed, then the teacher can be interdicted thereafter.

The interdicted teacher is at liberty to appeal the case after interdiction within the set timeframe.

The offences include;

  1. Canal Knowledge (CK) or Penal Knowledge ( PK)
  2. Negligence of Duty
  3. Absenteeism
  4. Desertion of Duty
  5. Insubordination
  6. Misappropriation of school funds
  7. Teacher convicted of criminal offence.

After the teacher has been interdicted, the commission will move Swiftly and deregister the teacher thereafter.

A teacher may be reinstated if it turns out that the teacher is innocent after thorough investigations.
