KUCCPS Has Opened Portal for Open University of Kenya Applications
Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS) recently issued an announcement regarding student enrollment at the Open University of Kenya (OUK).
The enrollment process commenced on August 28, 2023. According to KUCCPS CEO, Mercy Wahome, the opening of the application portal is for individuals interested in joining OUK.
KUCCPS disclosed that the tuition fees for undergraduate degree programs at OUK amount to Ksh105,000, while the Bachelor of Technology Education program costs Ksh115,000 for full-time study. For those enrolling in postgraduate diploma programs, the fee for one academic year is Ksh110,000. It’s worth noting that the annual tuition fee already includes a 15% discount negotiated by the government with universities under the new higher education funding criteria.
Students at OUK have the option to pay for and pursue individual course units, with the current rate set at Ksh10,000 per unit. This payment option is available to students pursuing both Bachelor’s degrees and postgraduate diploma programs. International students from outside East Africa are subject to an additional 10% fee for all programs or individual course units.

KUCCPS also clarified the minimum entry requirements for Bachelor’s degree programs, which necessitate a mean grade of C+ and above in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent.
Other qualifications such as diplomas, professional certifications, KCSE certificates, or their equivalents, as well as foundation or bridging course certificates, will also be considered.
Additionally, candidates with a Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education meeting specific grade criteria or those holding a recognized bachelor’s degree are eligible to submit applications.
Applications submitted through the KUCCPS portal will be free of charge and without any specified deadline. This application fee waiver is attributed to the Open University’s unique learning approach and adaptable modular program design, allowing students to learn at their own pace and convenience.
