Helicopter to Deliver Exams In Turkana
To ensure that examinations reach the remote and inaccessible areas of Turkana, two helicopters will be deployed. Turkana County Commissioner Jacob Ouma has emphasized the importance of this airlift operation due to the challenging terrain and instability in these regions, exacerbated by the current rainy season.
Ouma pointed out that the ongoing rains can render the roads impassable and create security concerns. By utilizing helicopters for the transportation of examination materials, they aim to enable candidates to complete their exams on schedule.

In his words, “We have two helicopters to ferry examination materials to inaccessible schools, like Kapedo in Turkana East, which has been faced with insecurity. We have beefed up security by deploying security officers to ensure the candidates sit for their exams without any problem.”
Helicopter to Deliver Exams In Turkana
The total number of candidates taking their exams in Turkana, which includes KPSEA, KCPE, and refugee candidates, amounts to 55,913. Henry Lubanga, the Director of Education for Turkana, further clarified the breakdown, with 19,175 KPSEA and 20,937 KCPE applicants within Turkana itself.
Additionally, 9,010 refugee candidates for the KCPE and 6,791 KPSEA are undergoing their exams at the Kakuma camp. This innovative approach of airlifting exams by helicopter is vital to ensure all candidates have the opportunity to complete their examinations despite the challenging geographical and security conditions.
