Young Chelsea Forward Who Caught Pochettino’s Eye Now in High Demand for Transfers

Mason Burstow was linked to a departure from Chelsea after impressing Mauricio Pochettino.

Mason Burstow, a young forward for Chelsea, is reportedly garnering significant interest from teams ahead of the upcoming season.

According to the Evening Standard, English and European clubs are interested in signing the 19-year-old center forward on loan or permanently. However, he has placed his future on hold for now.

Burstow has accompanied the Blues on their preseason tour of the United States. He missed our 5-0 thrashing of Wrexham earlier this week in North Carolina due to a muscle injury, but he could feature against Brighton & Hove Albion tomorrow in the Premier League Summer Series.

Malachi Fagan-Walcott of Tottenham Hotspur U23 escapes from Chelsea U23’s Mason Burstow.

According to Mauricio Pochettino, the adolescent has ‘impressed’ him. And because of this, we believe Chelsea should not allow him to depart the club permanently just yet.

No need for a sale

He was acquired in January 2022 from Charlton Athletic before being permitted to play for the Addicks for the next six months. Last season, he scored 11 goals for Chelsea’s U21 squad, which is hardly a poor performance.

In the forthcoming preseason games, it is crucial that we give him ample playing time. It would be difficult for him to demonstrate his ability to debut for the first team in such a short period of time.

However, he could persuade Poch to make him a reserve for Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, or whoever our next No. 9 signing is. At his age, that would be a significant accomplishment.

And if nothing of the type occurs in the immediate future, we can always use the remaining games as opportunities for young players to give their best auditions to potential suitors who can take them on loan and provide them with ample first-team opportunities. There is no harm in doing so.
