What Jadon Sancho did at Old Trafford following Manchester United’s Carabao Cup return

Man United striker Jadon Sancho made his Old Trafford comeback against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

After making his Manchester United homecoming on Wednesday night, Jadon Sancho received applause from every corner of Old Trafford. Sancho was last nominated to a matchday squad on October 30 against West Ham, and he took time away from the club in November and December to strengthen his fitness and regain his form.

The 22-year-old worked with individual trainers in the Netherlands and did not travel with the first squad to Spain for the winter training camp during that time, allowing him to return to full training at Carrington in peak condition in mid-January.

Sancho became viral on social media after returning to first-team training for looking to be a thinner version of himself, and he made his long-awaited comeback to the matchday squad against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup on Wednesday night.

Despite being designated on the bench, Sancho had a fantastic greeting as he warmed up on the touchline, which he repeated when he replaced Antony in the 63rd minute, with a great grin on his face.

As Sancho entered the pitch, the Stretford End sang his name, while Ten Hag smiled alongside him in the technical area. The outing marked the winger’s return to action, and he thanked the supporters for their support after the game.

That’s because Sancho strolled around the stadium, applauding the fans who remained at Old Trafford.

Sancho was one of the last players off the pitch and Ten Hag reacted to his comeback after the triumph, saying to MUTV: “It was amazing, the supporters who cheered him up, it’s great for Jadon and it shows how the fans like Jadon Sancho.

“To give him this love, we are happy with that, we need this connection with the fans and it’s grown all season”
