Western Region Produces Kenya’s Top KCPE Students.
Lewis Omondi and Robinson Fwaro achieved the highest scores on the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination in 2022. They both earned 431 marks.
The two students are from Western region schools.
Education CS Ezekiel Machogu released the results of the KCPE exam on Wednesday.
There were around 1,244,188 candidates registered for the examination.
The KCPE examinations were conducted from November 28-30.
Candidates can access their results by texting their index number and the initials KCPE to 20076.
Machogu stated that candidates will be permitted to begin their secondary education since they have all met the admission requirements for Form One.
According to the CS, the class of 2022 mounted a valiant academic battle despite the triple hurdle of a general election, COVID-19, and reduced school calendars.
“I wish to thank all the stakeholders, especially parents and teachers, for withstanding the financial and teaching pressures that came with the shorter school terms as forced upon us by the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
The normal school calendar will resume in January 2023, according to Machogu.
He stated that the government intends to enroll candidates in secondary schools as soon as possible in order to provide parents with sufficient time to prepare their children for admission to Form One.
The CS reported that the Form One selection process will finish on January 16.
There were 620,965 (50.32%) male KCPE applicants and 612,887 (49.67%) female candidates.
The CS stated that this is evidence that gender equality has been attained at the elementary school level.
The head of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Nancy Macharia, invited teachers to apply for government-announced positions at the ceremony, recognizing their role in overseeing tests.
She revealed that instructors had until December 23, 2022, to submit applications for the 30,000 available positions, emphasizing that this is the largest recruitment drive since 1997.
