Uproar in MoE As 408,879 Students Fail to Apply for Courses

Concerns concerning students who did not apply for university placement have been voiced by the Ministry of Education.

CS education 870 561 individuals, according to Ezekiel Machogu, were qualified for admission to various institutions and colleges.

Nevertheless, a number of students who qualified for placement chose not to sign up for degree, diploma, and certificate programmes.

23,138 of the 870,561 eligible students didn’t apply for degree-granting courses.

This accounts for 13.35% of the total.

In addition, 136,592 students who were eligible for diploma courses did not apply, he said.

“Equally, those who qualified for diploma courses in our various technical programmes and middle-level colleges, to the tune of 136, 592 which is 63.94 per cent have not applied for any diploma course,” Machogu said.

Additionally, 249,149 students who were eligible for certificate programmes made no application at all. According to the CS, this accounts for 86.42 percent of the entire application.

Machogu was speaking on Monday at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi as the 2022 KCSE university placement results were announced.

He urged those who did not apply to do so, reassuring them that they could still get a spot.

We are hoping that they will be able to apply because our universities and technical institutions still have room, according to Machogu.
