The 34-year-old is currently a free agent, and despite being securely in the twilight of his career, he may make a surprise return to a former club.
As reported by The Sun, Spanish giants Barcelona are interested in re-signing Sanchez to reinforce their attack for the upcoming season.
Having lost Ousmane Dembele to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona has an opening in their roster, which Sanchez could fill for Xavi’s squad.
Sanchez is well-known to the Barca manager from their time spent playing together for the Catalan club during their trophy-laden run from 2011 to 2014.
Sanchez scored 14 league goals in 35 games for Marseille last season, but the French club did not extend his one-year contract.
Representatives of Sanchez and Barcelona are scheduled to meet today (Friday) to discuss the intricacies of a possible deal that would see the forward return to Camp Nou.
Sanchez has been unable to rediscover the form that made him one of the most feared players in the Premier League since his transfer to United from Arsenal.
Sanchez would undoubtedly appreciate a return to Barça, as he would be able to play at the highest level for an additional year.
