TTC HELB Loan Application Procedure: FIRST TIME APPLICATION FOR HELB LOAN FOR TTC TRAINEES
TTC HELB Loan Application Procedure . For a long time now, the trainees in the Teachers Training Colleges have not been able to secure the HELB Loans like other students joining universities and TVET Institutions.
For the first time, students from TTCs will now be able to apply for this facility, Higher Education Loans Board ( HELB).
Of all the public Teachers Training Colleges, only 35 colleges have been approved by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service ( KUCCPS).
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is mandated in admitting all the TTC students to colleges following the mandate that was issued by the Ministry of Education.
The credit facility has enabled many students from humble backgrounds accomplish their studies with ease and without troubling their parents.
Previously, it was the responsibility of the Ministry Of Education to select and place students in public TTCs as opposed to new directive where the mandate has been transferred to the KUCCPS.
Therefore, all students seeking to join colleges for Teacher trainees, must submit the application through the KUCCPS portal.
The TTCs in the country train all teachers aiming at becoming primary school teachers where they study Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) and those who wish to teach in pre-primary schools who also go for a 3 year course studying Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education ( DECTE).
Following the recent directive from the Ministry Of Education, all teachers who are holding the P1 certificate, are advised to go for a nine months program with the aim of upgrading to Diploma in any of the approved Teachers Training Colleges (TTCs).
