TSC to Review 2021-2022 Non-Monetary CBA

Teachers Union has been invited by Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to assess the non-monetary 2021–2025 CBA.

The meeting is scheduled for the 22nd day of this month, according to a circular sent to the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers, or KUPPET.

“I am writing to extend an invitation to you for a meeting with the Teachers Service.”

Part of the circular said, “Commission planned for Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 9:00 am for the foregoing purpose.

As stated in the circular, “the Meeting will take Place at the Kenya School of Government (KSG), Lower Kabete, Nairobi.”

2021-2025 CBA

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), and Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KusNET) signed a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) in July 2021.

As a result, on August 27, 2021, the Employment and Labour Relations Court registered the CBAs as required by Section 60 of the Labour Relations Act.

Promotions

Promotions of Teachers shall be in accordance with the Career Progression Guidelines in force however teachers serving in ASAL and hard to staff areas and are holding administrative positions in an acting capacity shall be promoted progressively until they obtain grades commensurate to their respective positions.

Leaves

Application for different categories of leave shall be considered and approved strictly in accordance with Part X of the CORT. However, the Commission shall grant:

  • Maternity Leave of One hundred and twenty ( 120) Calendar days with full pay with effect from date of delivery.
  • Pre-adoptive Leave of Forty-five (45) Calendar days with full pay with effect from the date of adoption.
  • Paternity Leave of Twenty One (21) calendar days with full pay once a year.
