TSC to Promote over 50,000 Teachers By December, TSC Chairman

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced plans to promote 50,000 teachers by the end of the year. TSC Chairman Dr. Jamleck Muturi revealed that they have already recruited 50,000 interns this year, starting in March and continuing until November, with the support of Ksh1 billion in funding.

After a meeting with education stakeholders at St. Teresa Girls Secondary school in Kisumu, Dr. Muturi addressed some of the key issues discussed during the meeting. These included concerns about staff shortages, mental health issues, and discipline among staff members.

Dr. Muturi assured the stakeholders that the Commission is committed to addressing these challenges. Resolving these grievances is seen as essential for ensuring that children receive a quality education, as satisfied teachers are better equipped to meet the needs of learners.

He also acknowledged the general shortage of teachers across the counties and mentioned that measures are being put in place to address this gap, which will be rolled out in due course.
