The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has initiated the process of compiling a roster of teachers who will oversee the national exams in 2023.

The Commission is collecting teacher data through Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs) for the purpose of assigning exam administration roles.

School principals are obligated to complete and submit an Excel template containing teacher information.

The required details from teachers include their Name, Position, TSC number, Job group, ID number, Current school, Mobile number, KRA pin, KPSEA, KCPE, and KCSE enrollment.

In the 2022 exams, 28,408 teachers served as center managers, 28,727 as supervisors, 74,990 as invigilators, and 5,647 as examiners.

The Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) has finalized plans to administer national exams to 2.3 million learners taking this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

Approximately 1,415,315 candidates will take the KCPE exam, while another 903,260 will sit for the KCSE test.

Knec Chief Executive David Njengere has confirmed preparations for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for 1,282,574 Grade Six learners, including registration, paper setting, and exam administration according to the timetable.

During the 39th Association for Educational Assessment in Africa Conference at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, Dr. Njengere made these statements.

Knec has introduced enhanced security measures to prevent cheating during this year’s national exams, such as changing the distribution process of examination papers.

Instead of picking up all papers in the morning, only morning papers will be collected by center managers (school heads). Additional containers have been procured to store exam papers at schools, reducing the time taken for transportation.

The move aims to prevent early exposure to afternoon papers, although it has raised concerns about the delayed payment of teachers after exam administration, prompting teachers’ unions to threaten boycotts if payment issues persist.

Teachers are advised to register on the CP2 portal for exam invigilation or supervision roles, using their TSC number as the only qualification. This can be done through school heads or by approaching CSOs.

Creating a CP2 account early is recommended to avoid last-minute complications.
