TSC Start To Compile List KCPE, KPSEA, KCSE Invigilators
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has commenced the process of compiling a list of teachers who will oversee the administration of the 2023 national exams. The Commission is collaborating with Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs) to collect the necessary data for assigning exam administration responsibilities. School heads are tasked with completing and submitting an Excel template containing teachers’ information, including their Name, Designation, TSC number, Job group, ID number, Current school, Mobile number, KRA pin, as well as KPSEA, KCPE, and KCSE enrollment details.
In the previous year’s exams and assessments, a total of 28,408 teachers served as centre managers, 28,727 as supervisors, 74,990 as invigilators, and 5,647 as examiners. The Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) has finalized its preparations to conduct national exams for approximately 2.3 million learners taking the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams. Among them, 1,415,315 candidates will sit for the KCPE exam, and 903,260 will take the KCSE test. Additionally, preparations are in place for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for 1,282,574 Grade Six learners.

Knec Chief Executive David Njengere confirmed that candidate registration is complete, and examination papers have been prepared in accordance with the timetable. New security measures have been introduced to prevent cheating during this year’s national exams. Notably, examination papers will no longer be collected in the morning; instead, centre managers (school heads) will only collect the morning papers. Knec has also acquired additional containers for examination storage at schools, reducing the time required for paper collection and ensuring the security of afternoon papers.
However, Knec has faced criticism for significant delays in teachers’ payment after administering exams and releasing results to the public. Teachers’ unions have threatened to mobilize teachers to boycott exam invigilation and supervision roles this year if the payment issue is not resolved. To qualify for invigilation, teachers only need a TSC number.
To streamline the process, teachers are encouraged to create their CP2 accounts early, where deployment letters for KNEC invigilation or supervision are uploaded. Those who already have accounts need not create new ones. Applications for invigilation are made through school heads, but teachers can also approach CSOs to request a chance.
