TSC Set To Hire 6,000 Internship Positions In Public Primary And Secondary Schools
Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Nancy Macharia has announced that the commission is set to hire 5,000 teachers from the 22nd of July 2021.
About 6,000 intern teachers will also be hired after the completion of the recruitment exercise of the recently advertised TSC jobs. TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia said on Wednesday that the Treasury has allocated 2.5 billion to recruit teachers in the 2021/22 financial year.
TSC will release internship slots in various schools on 2nd August for interested applicants to apply through the tsc application portal https://hrmis.tsc.go.ke/ starting from 4th to 18th of August 2021.
Teachers who will secure positions will report to their respective stations latest by August 15th, 2021.
“This is to reduce the burden of teachers in handling the increased enrollment. Eligible unemployed and registered teachers will look for advertisements for applications next month,” read his statement partially.
More than 100,000 teachers have been trained on CBC implementation in grade 5. More teachers will be trained as the Treasury allocated Ksh.1 billion for the training in the next financial year.
Initially, the Treasury had not allocated any funds for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) implementation until when the House Budget and Appropriations Committee, led by Kieni MP Kanini Kega raised the red flag.
With regards to the hiring of teachers, the treasury allocated Sh2.5 billion to cater for the recruitment of more than 5,000 teachers.
Another Sh1.8 billion was set aside to improve health conditions and support the educational achievements of learners, including the school-feeding programme.
The government has continued investing in the education sector as it aims to ensure access to quality learning.
And as the demand for online learning due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Treasury allocated Sh420 million for the digital literacy programme and ICT integration in secondary schools.
