TSC Reveal New Retirement Age For Teachers
For teachers who work in dry and semi-arid climates, TSC has now advanced the retirement age by three years.
A higher retirement age for teachers has been confirmed by the teachers service commission. The commission has delivered contract letters to instructors who have already retired as a result of this increase in retirement age.
Garissa county is one of the counties impacted by these modifications.

In the most recent developments about retired teachers, Dr. Nancy Macharia, the chief executive officer of the Teachers Service Commission, has prioritised the teachers from the north-eastern region. The fact that many teachers dislike these locations has raised this issue. This is especially true for teachers who travel to these locations.
According to Macharia, the continuous wave of teacher retirements will leave a major teaching shortage in these fields. She also mentioned that there is already a teacher shortage in the region as a result of the departure of non-local teachers.

Teachers who have previously retired from these locations will be hired by the teachers service commission on a three-year contract to work for the commission as compensation. When teachers reach their official retirement age after that, they will be given an additional three years of retirement.
In a news release dated May 18,2023, Macharia said that the teachers service commission in the three counties (Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir) had been persuaded to hire teachers on a new short-term contract.
All educators who have reached this retirement age must provide their information to the county TSC offices. This is true for teachers who desire to get letters from the aforementioned counties.
Intern instructors should expect letters as soon as the budget has been approved in its whole. These letters will direct them to these locations over a permanent and pensionable period of time.
