TSC Resolves Nightmare in Teacher Promotion Application
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has decided to extend the deadline for applying to the advertised vacancies. Earlier this week, there were significant difficulties in applying for these vacancies due to heavy traffic on the website.
This was primarily caused by a technical IT issue resulting from the high volume of visitors. Following consultations with teachers’ unions, the TSC has agreed to extend the application deadline until September 15th.
Unfortunately, the TSC portal remains inaccessible due to this unresolved technical glitch. Teachers were concerned about missing out on the 36,275 advertised vacancies due to this issue.
Both the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) and the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) have called on the TSC to extend the application dates. The ICT director has also requested an extension to allow more teachers to access the site.
In response to the slow site, teachers have considered switching to a manual application system. Omboko Milemba, the chair of KUPPET and Member of Parliament for Emuhaya, appeals to the Teachers Service Commission to extend the application dates, emphasizing the need for more teacher employment.

Teachers express frustration, holding the TSC responsible for stagnating their careers. The advertised vacancies show a significant demand for positions such as Senior Master IV in regular secondary schools, Senior Teacher II in ordinary primary schools, Headteachers, and Deputy Headteachers in regular primary schools, as well as Secondary Teachers in regular schools. This indicates a shortage of administrators in public primary schools.
