TSC Releases 14,738 Promotional Letters for Teachers
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has recently appointed 14,738 individuals to various educational leadership positions across the nation. These roles include Chief Principals, Principals, Deputy Principals, Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers, Senior Masters, and Senior Teachers.
TSC has taken steps to promote career growth among educators. Over 1,900 promotion letters have been dispatched to county school administrators. Many counties have already initiated the process of issuing posting letters to these promoted teachers.
Following the conclusion of the interview process, there were some delays in sending out these letters. However, it’s fortunate that the newly appointed teachers have received their letters in advance. This enables them to prepare for their new assignments and commence their duties in the upcoming academic term.

It’s worth noting that TSC initially called for teacher applications for these 14,738 promotions back in December 2022, but later canceled the advertisement. Subsequently, the commission reinvited applications in January, March, and May of 2023 due to insufficient candidate interest. As a result, a significant number of teachers who have been functioning in senior teaching roles are still awaiting confirmation.
Many teachers who underwent promotion interviews in March and were successfully shortlisted for their desired positions have yet to receive their postings. This information is accessible through the TSC database, which can be accessed at the offices of county and sub-county directors.
A TSC senior official has pointed out that delays are partly attributed to the incremental release of funds from the treasury, which has impacted the commission’s ability to expedite the process.
Nevertheless, TSC remains committed to promoting and placing educators progressively, as long as the necessary funding is secured. TSC CEO Nancy Macharia has expressed her disappointment at teachers who missed out on promotions, emphasizing that it is their responsibility to pursue career advancement opportunities. Macharia has also urged teachers to be open to seeking promotions in different counties.
