TSC Promotion Of B5 To C1, C1 To C2 And C2 To C3 Guide

Immediately following the signing of the sh 54 billion Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) 2017 to 2021 between it and the three teachers unions, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) decided to reform the grading system for teachers working in primary and secondary schools. This decision was made effective immediately.

The Teaching Standards Commission (TSC) decided to use the Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) as a method for rating instructors and advancing them to different grades.

According to the Commission, clear procedural guidelines (CPG) are established to make it possible for the Commission to carry out CBAs.

PROMOTION OF TEACHERS GRADE B5 TO C1

The only grade that exists is B5, and it is exclusively found among teachers of primary schools. Grade B5, commonly referred to as Primary Teacher II, is the starting point for all primary school teachers and corresponds to the fifth level of the T-scale. This category includes every new educator who has recently been hired.

Job group B5 is where a freshly hired elementary school educator will begin their career. After three years of service, a teacher who is currently at the Grade B5 level will be immediately promoted to the Grade C1 level.

According to the CPG, elevating instructors from the B5 level to the C1 level does not require any further education or an interview. To be automatically transferred to C1, one need only have served for three years in B5 prior to being eligible for the promotion.

PROMOTION OF TEACHERS FROM GRADE C1 TO GRADE C2

When instructors in primary schools reach the three-year mark in the grade B5 level, they are automatically promoted to the C1 level.

The primary school teachers who are in Grade C1 are in T-Scale 6, and they are also referred to as Primary Teacher I.

There is no guarantee that teachers in grade C1 will be moved up to grade C2 automatically. As a matter of fact, in primary school, Grade C2 is a part of Senior Teachers and is referred to as Senior Teacher I.

The grade C2 is an advanced grade for primary school teachers who are working for promotion. In addition, it is considered an entry-level position within the administrative cadre. The process of getting into this grade is competitive, and it depends on whether or not there are openings.

A primary school teacher who wishes to be promoted from Grade C1 to Grade C2 must submit an online application whenever the TSC places an advertisement in this regard.

In addition to possessing the essential qualifications, which include a diploma at the very least, he or she is also expected to have worked in the Grade C1 position for at least three years.

During promotion interviews, however, teachers in C1 and ASAL and other difficult-to-staff areas who have been given letters to act are typically confirmed for promotions based on affirmative action and promoted accordingly.

The minimum requirement to become a Diploma teacher at a secondary school is the Grade C1 level. Teachers with diplomas who work in secondary schools are promoted to this grade immediately after being hired.

A secondary school instructor who teaches students in Grade C1 is sometimes referred to as Secondary Teacher II.

After three years of service, instructors with a secondary school diploma who are currently assigned to Grade C1 will be automatically promoted to Grade C2.

Note that all instructors in areas classified as ASAL and Hard to Staff areas are promoted based on affirmative action. Thank you for your cooperation.

PROMOTION OF TEACHERS FROM GRADE C2 TO GRADE C3

In the primary school, Senior Teacher II is in charge of the Grade C2 classroom. This is an advancement grade for teachers of elementary school children.

In addition, it is considered an entry-level position within the administrative cadre. The promotion to this level is not guaranteed; rather, it is determined through a competition and is contingent on there being open positions.

To be eligible for appointment to this grade, a person must first have worked for a minimum of three years in the Primary Teacher I position on the T-Scale 6.

After at least three years of service and participation in promotion interviews, a Senior Teacher II who is currently in grade C2 has the opportunity to be promoted to Senior Teacher I, who are currently in grade C3.

The TSC also has a goal to encourage practising primary school teachers who have a degree in the secondary option to teach in secondary schools, especially junior secondary schools.

Teachers from primary schools who are assigned to teach at secondary schools begin their lessons at Grade C2.

In secondary schools, the Grade C2 promotion grade is reserved for instructors who hold Diplomas. After three years of service, diploma teachers in Grade C1 are automatically promoted to Grade C2 in the same subject area.

After being hired by TSC, diploma teachers are placed in job group C1 immediately.

A secondary school Diploma teacher who is currently working in Grade C2 is required to attend a promotional interview in order to advance to Grade C3. It does not happen on its own.

In secondary schools, Grade C2 serves as both the entrance requirement and the starting point for Graduate Teacher candidates. When they are hired by TSC, all secondary school teachers who have a degree are automatically promoted to this grade.

After three years of service, graduate teachers in secondary schools are promoted to grade C3 without further examination.
