TSC Payslip Of Newly Employed Teachers

A freshly hired graduate teacher who is hired by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in Kenya is classified as a Secondary Teacher II under job group K, which is currently known as grade C2.

A new teacher is placed on probation for a minimum of six (6) months, per the TSC appointment letter. In the event that the teacher’s performance is subpar, the time limit may be increased.

The teacher is automatically promoted to job group L, or grade C3, after three years of employment.

Although a diploma is the bare minimum needed to teach in a secondary school, most of the instructors there are university graduates.

A rental home allowance of Kshs 7,500 and a commuter allowance of Kshs 5,000 are given to the teacher under employment group K (grade C2).

The final take-home pay for a freshly hired graduate teacher is Kshs 38,000 after all deductions.
