The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has conducted vetting for 223,223 teachers who will assume roles as supervisors and invigilators in the national examinations. An additional 37,731 teachers have been designated as examiners, as confirmed by TSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nancy Macharia.

Macharia further informed that all 71,760 center managers are expected to attend sub-county briefing meetings organized by the Kenya National Examination Council in the first week of October 2023. Attendance at these meetings is mandatory, and no delegates will be permitted.

She emphasized, “The center managers will participate in sub-county briefing meetings, which are set to be conducted nationwide by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) during the first week of October 2023.”

In a directive, Macharia instructed all field officers on leave to resume their duties on October 16, emphasizing the critical role they play in ensuring the success of the final phase of preparations for the national examinations.

Macharia expressed a commitment from the TSC and its staff and teachers to provide full support for the upcoming national examinations, aiming for a significant success.

She highlighted the TSC’s annual rotation policy to prevent the retention of supervisors or invigilators from the previous year’s national examinations. During the examination period, only center and deputy center managers will be required to be physically present in schools.

Macharia also noted that this would be the last Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) to be administered under the 8-4-4 system due to the implementation of a new curriculum. Additionally, there are five more classes scheduled to sit the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam.

In summary, TSC CEO Nancy Macharia emphasized the vetting process, mandatory attendance at sub-county briefing meetings, the return of field officers, and the commitment to the annual rotation policy to ensure the success of the upcoming national examinations.
