TSC Kicks Off Inspection In Schools in these Regions
To ensure the smooth functioning of academic activities in schools, the Quality Assurance and Standards Officers (QASOs) within the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) play a crucial role by acting as a bridge to the Standards Division at the TSC headquarters.
A significant number of Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers have recently interacted with these officers, primarily expressing their concerns about the quality of education. This engagement will persist until the term’s conclusion.
Within TSC, there exist county and subcounty quality assurance directorates tasked with the responsibility of guaranteeing high-quality teaching in educational institutions.
It’s important to note that the Quality Assurance and Standards function has decentralized units at both county and sub-county levels.
Upon visiting educational institutions, the County Quality Assurance and Standards Officer report to the County Director and carry out the following responsibilities:
1. They assess compliance with professional and ethical standards among school administrators and teachers.
2. They ensure adherence to the values and principles of public service and the promotion of the Teachers Service Commission’s image and core values by school administrators and teachers.
3. They monitor the proper maintenance and enforcement of teacher registration in all educational institutions.
4. They oversee the performance of school administrators and teachers and ensure that teacher appraisals are conducted.
5. They conduct advisory and investigative assessments related to teacher performance and compile relevant reports.
