TSC Intern Recruits to Produce Title Deed and Voter’s Card During Recruitment
New criteria have been added by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for the continuous hiring of intern instructors in junior secondary schools.
According to TSC recruitment criteria, some sub-county directors requested that intern recruits provide documentation proving their sub-county of origin, according to a spot check by Educationnewsarena.co.ke.
Clause XVIII of the 2023/2024 recruitment standards states that candidates from the corresponding sub-counties/counties will be given preference.
TSC requires intern applicants in the Westlands constituency of Nairobi to provide copies of their voter’s card, birth certificate, land title deed, and marriage certificate as evidence of domicile.
The supporting documentation must attest to their residency in the given county or sub-county.
The Commission has also recommended shortlisted candidates not to show up at the recruitment centres if they lack the necessary proof documents.
To break ties during the selection process, TSC frequently uses the length of time after graduation and the calibre of academic and professional qualifications.
According to TSC rules, 5% of the open posts must be earmarked for candidates who have disabilities.
To ensure that only registered and qualified teachers are taken into consideration during the shortlisting stage and to avoid engaging with unregistered/deregistered teachers or ineligible candidates, Sub-County Directors are required to confirm the online registration status of the applicants as per TSC recruitment guidelines.
A total of 18,000 positions for intern teachers in junior secondary schools and 2,000 positions in public primary schools were made public by TSC on July 5.

According to the Commission, teacher interns working in primary schools will be eligible for a monthly compensation of Sh15,000, while those working in JSS will receive a stipend of Sh20,000.
The requirements for eligibility stated that candidates must be unemployed and have never worked for the Commission as an intern or on a permanent, pensionable basis.
