TSC Directs All Its Workers To File Their Returns Before 30th June or Get Fined By Kenya Revenue Authority, KRA




The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has directed all its employees to file their individual income tax returns for the year 2020. In a circular dated 15th April 2020, TSC boss Nancy Njeri Macharia addressed to Secretariat Staff, Head Teachers of Primary Schools, Principals of Secondary Schools, and Teacher Training Colleges.

Also addressed are the Directors of Kenya Institute of the Blind, Cemastea, Kenya Institute of Special Education. TSC stated that it has uploaded the P9 forms on the TSC payslip portal for all its staff to download and file returns on time. 




Teachers and secretariat officers have till 30th June 2021 to file their returns and to avoid penalties from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

A fine of Ksh 2,000 by KRA applies to employees who fail to file their returns on time.

To file returns, the commission said teachers can visit the KRA online platform via the link https://itax.kra.go.ke 




TSC noted that it's working together with the KRA to update the itax records for the years 2015 to 2020 to facilitate the issuance of Tax Compliance and Clearance Certificates.

FILING OF INDIVIDUAL INCOME TAX RETURNS FOR THE YEAR 2020 

 

All TSC employees are required to file their individual income tax returns for the year 2020 through the KRA online [Tax platform (https://itax.kra.go.ke) by 30th June 2021 as required by Income Tax Act. 

The Tax Deduction Cards (P9 Forms) have been uploaded on the TSC payslip portal for all employees to download. This will facilitate the filing of the returns. 




You are also informed that the commission is still working jointly with the KRA to update the itax records for the years 2015 to 2020 to facilitate the issuance of Tax Compliance and Clearance Certificates.
