TSC Declares 488 Vacancies Plus Permanent & Pensionable Jobs; How to Apply
On Friday, May 26, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) revealed that there are currently 488 openings for teaching positions around the country, including teaching intern positions.
The Commission announced its intention to fill the positions of 328 interns in Junior Secondary Schools, 16 interns in Public Secondary Schools, 56 permanent and pensionable teachers in post-primary institutions, and 88 contract teachers in the regions of Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera. This information was included in a notification that was distributed by the Commission.
The advertisement states that some of the positions are permanent and eligible for pensions, while others are internships or contractual positions.
The interns will put in a full year of labor, and those who are placed in secondary schools will be compensated with a salary of Ksh20,000 per month.

The commission instructed those who were interested in applying to go to tsc.go.ke and look under the ‘Careers’ area, or they may click on teachersonline.tsc.go.ke for additional information.
All applicants have to be citizens of Kenya, have at least a diploma in Education, be registered with TSC, and have a mean grade of C+ and C+ in two teaching subjects (for interns) in order to be considered.
Copies of the Teacher Registration Certificate, National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card (if applicable), National Identity Card or passport, two color photographs of passport size, National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), and Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN) are some of the documents that must be submitted.
The commission told the candidates that they will only contact those individuals who made the shortlist.
“There is no cost associated with the recruitment. Applicants are being advised by the Teacher Service Commission to be on the lookout for con artists who might try to extort money from people who aren’t paying attention while pretending to help in the recruitment process.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to report any fraudulent acts they encounter to the local police or to the TSC offices.
According to the TSC, the timelines for the recruitment of teachers will commence on May 25, 2023 and run until June 26, 2023, while the deadlines for the promotion of teachers will start on May 25, 2023 and run until July 28, 2023. Both of these dates are in 2023.
As a result, the commission requested that any and all interested candidates submit their applications no later than the following Friday, June 2, 2023.
