TSC asked to create More C4 Job groups to Address Stagnation
In order to allow for more flexible career advancement for teachers, the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has advocated for the extension of establishments within job Group C4.
Akello Misori, the secretary-general of KUPPET, has emphasised the need for more chances in the teaching field, particularly for individuals who have held the same position for a long time despite their academic achievements.
Misori called attention to a worrying pattern in which a sizable percentage of graduate instructors in employment Group C3 had been in a state of extended stagnation for more than five years.
In addition, he noted that a sizeable group of diploma instructors had been stuck in grade C2 employment with no room for advancement.

Misori made a proactive suggestion to address this problem: adding more positions in grade C4. KUPPET seeks to enable a more smooth and dynamic career progression for teachers across the country by increasing opportunities within this category.
If this plan becomes law, Misori thinks it would help many educators who are now experiencing stagnation and a lack of upward mobility.
“While many diploma instructors have stuck in grade C2, many graduate teachers in job Group C3 have stagnated for more than five years. To promote professional advancement, we advocate for the emergence of more businesses in C4.
In this situation, the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers also called attention to the part that employers play.
Misori voiced his dissatisfaction with the employer’s failure to put the career progression standards for promotions into practise, which ultimately led to the stagnation of a sizable number of teachers—46,550 to be exact—in the same job category.
