Truth About eligibility of senior interns over September replacement

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has made a positive announcement for intern teachers, allowing them to apply for permanent or replacement roles. TSC recently posted 2,120 job openings to fill vacancies left by teachers leaving due to natural attrition.

These positions are divided into 1,591 for primary schools and 529 for secondary schools. Aspiring candidates must submit their applications through the online portal once the slots become available.

This development offers clarity for over 10,000 interns initially recruited in November 2019, who were uncertain about their prospects for permanent employment.

Intern teachers are initially hired on one-year contracts to gain experience. When they transition into permanent positions, they can end their contracts with a 30-day written notice, per the internship terms.

TSC’s decision to open permanent and replacement vacancies to intern teachers presents a promising opportunity for those pursuing long-term careers in education.

This move benefits both interns and the education system by filling crucial teaching positions, ensuring stability and quality in Kenya’s educational institutions.

Intern teachers can now plan their futures in the teaching profession, while Kenya’s education system can enjoy a steady supply of qualified educators, contributing to the goal of improving education quality in the country.

This change marks a significant shift in the employment landscape for intern teachers, reflecting TSC’s dedication to nurturing and retaining teaching talent, ultimately supporting Kenya’s education sector’s growth and development.
