The Perfect Pair: Liverpool’s Must-Have Duo – Jude Bellingham and the ‘Special’ Player That Will Take Them to the Top
As part of a summer transfer window makeover, Liverpool has been connected with Jude Bellingham.
Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James has urged the club to sign Mason Mount alongside Jude Bellingham. Mount should be worried about his future at Chelsea after a slew of big-money additions, according to James.
The Blues midfielder has recently been left out of the starting lineup at Stamford Bridge. Graham Potter has chosen attacking players such as Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Kai Havertz, and Joao Felix.
Mount’s contract will expire in the summer, and negotiations for an extension have apparently stopped. Liverpool should take advantage of the 24-year-situation, old’s according to James.
As part of a massive revamping of the Liverpool squad, Jürgen Klopp plans to restructure his midfield in the summer transfer window. Borussia Dortmund youngster Bellingham is thought to be a key target, but James believes Mount could be a’special’ addition at Anfield.
“I’m a big fan of Mason Mount. If you’re Mason Mount or Ruben Loftus-Cheek, prior to the transfer window at Chelsea, then you’d be questioning your longevity at the club, due to the number of signings that the club has made,” James told GGRecon.
“That has absolutely nothing to do with Graham Potter. I got my pro license with him, and he’s a terrific manager and person.
“But I just believe that there’s a lot of players that have come in for a lot of money and then there will be players at the club who were there before the transfer window, who would have believed they’d be at Chelsea for the rest of their career, like Mason Mount, but will now be starting to question whether that’s the case.
“If Liverpool are interested in him, then the prospect of Mason Mount and Jude Bellingham in Liverpool’s midfield would be something special I think.”
In the summer, Liverpool will compete for Bellingham against Champions League rivals Real Madrid. Both teams are thought to have laid the foundation for a future move of more than £100 million.
Mount appears to be of interest to the Reds as well. With the England international’s contract status, Liverpool might entice him away from Stamford Bridge for a bargain price. Chelsea appear to be holding out hope of re-signing their academy graduate, but he may finally decide that his future lies elsewhere.
