The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has given teachers up to 10th April 2021 to scan and upload documents for their dependants to the AON Minet online portal. This only applies to the TSC employed teachers.
The teachers’ health insurance provider has been sending texts to teachers encouraging them to do so.
“Dear MR Vincent, We are yet to receive supporting documents for your dependants. Your dependants shall be removed from the hospital system by 10th April should we not receive these documents before then. Upload document through the link https://collaborationkenya.minet.com/tsc STOP *456*9*5#” read a text message from one teacher, Vincent Mbuthia.
Failure to update the documents on time will lead to problems in getting health services for them in AON accredited hospitals nationwide.
AON Minet is one of the largest insurance providers in the country. TSC has in its workforce. AON covers more than 300,000 teachers from both public primary and secondary schools which makes it one of the biggest insurance companies in Kenya.
The teachers’ medical cover is paid through payslip deductions. TSC employed teachers don’t get their medical allowance since it is cashed towards the cover. In the last two years alone TSC has spent Ksh.21 billion towards the cover.
Teachers will be expected to upload birth certificates for their children under 18 years or birth notifications for recently born children. Married teachers will upload a marriage certificate or a sworn affidavit. Uploading spouses’ ID cards will be necessary for married couples.
Teachers whose children are in colleges or universities or high schools who are above eighteen years will be required to upload their original ID cards or school ID card as proof. For those with disabled children, a disability certificate is must be uploaded.
