Teachers Have 2 Days For CP2 Online Registration

Teachers have 2 days to apply for the 280,000 job vacancies via the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) online portal.

Selected teachers will be deployed to schools across the country to serve as centre managers, invigilators, supervisors, examiners, makers and security personnel to assist with the administration of KCSE and KCPE exams.

KNEC stated that the teachers have until Thursday, 26th of February to make applications. Teachers will be posted to sub-counties under the supervision of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and Directors of Education.

The council said the vacancies are due to the increase in the number of learners who will sit for the National Examination in March 2021. More than 2M candidates are registered for the national exam as compared to 1.6M combined for both primary and secondary schools.

KNEC stationed 264,446 professionals in schools In 2019. The Council, therefore, increased the vacancies by 15,000 this year as it looks forth to administering tests under the strict Covid-19 rules and other measures put in place to prevent cheating.

“An estimated 286,000 field officers will be engaged on an agency basis to facilitate the conduct of exams in the field. The field officers contracted for the administration of exams will be expected to register online using the contracted professional CP2 system,” KNEC stated.

KMEC is also expected to give direction to school heads on how to administer practical exams under the Covid-19 rules.

Headteachers Not Prepared

School heads, though, gave concerns that learning institutions were not yet ready as many schools, if not all, do not have enough funds to purchase needed specimens and upgrade laboratories.

“We have not yet received the 25 percent capitation balance asper cented by the government. Schools may not be able to get the KNEC’s specimen once they send us the list,” Said National Chairman for Kenya Secondary

School Heads Association (KESSHA) Kahi Indimuli.

The Certificate Of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations run from 22nd to 24th next month while KCSE rehearsals will be conducted on 25th next month with the written exams set for the 26th of March to April 21st.
