Teachers Excited with Application of OCS Positions In Schools
Teachers nationwide have expressed a strong interest in applying for positions within the newly established Office of Career Services (OCS) in schools.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) announced its intention, in a circular dated August 16, 2023, to offer training to educators responsible for delivering career guidance in their respective schools.
The Office of Career Services (OCS) will be implemented across all educational levels, including universities, national polytechnics, technical vocational centers, primary, and secondary institutions.
Numerous TSC County Directors have already complied with a TSC memorandum, which instructs them to assist school principals in establishing an Office of Career Services (OCS) in their schools and appoint a teacher to oversee OCS activities.

According to the statement, “The State Department for Labour and Skills Development has been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing skills development across various sectors, establishing and managing the institutional framework for connecting industry skills development and training, as per Executive Order No. 1 of 2021.”
The Department is committed to promoting career guidance to reduce skill mismatches, enhance school-to-work transitions, improve employability, facilitate labor mobility, and reintegrate marginalized and at-risk groups into the realms of education and the labor market.
The Commission has specified that schools must designate a teacher to supervise the Office of Career Services. Teachers taking on OCS roles in schools will subsequently participate in training sessions organized by the TSC in their respective counties.
