A sombre mood engulfed Koyolo Village in Homa Bay County after an Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teacher at Gul Kagembe Primary School was shot dead under unclear circumstances.
The gangsters raided Clinis Atieno Ojenge's home at about 8.55 pm and shot her dead. The deceased’s 9-year-old daughter also suffered serious injuries after being hit on the stomach by a stray bullet.
She was rushed to Asumbi Mission Hospital and later transferred to the Kisii Level Five hospital where she is admitted.

Amadi Simba, the Homa Bay County government administrator in charge of Rangwe sub-county said the criminals struck after the teacher had returned home from school.
Simba condemned the crime and called on security officials in the region to investigate the matter and bring the culprits to book.
The deceased’s mother-in-law Teresa Adera said the cause of the crime remains a puzzle to them as Mrs. Ojenge did not have wrangles with anybody in the area.
The area residents led by then councillor Peter Otieno have since threatened to take a peaceful street demonstration should the police fail to arrest the suspects quickly.
A probe had already been launched into the killing according to Homa Bay sub-county Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Officer Monica Berege.
