Students to Receive University Admission Letters as From Today
Beginning today (Wednesday, August 2), students who took the 2022 KCSE Exams will begin receiving admission letters for the university or college where KUCCPS put them.
Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for education, gave university heads instructions to give letters allowing students to apply for loans and bursaries while speaking at the Kenya School of Government in Kabete to introduce the new funding model for universities and colleges.
“I instruct Principals and Vice-Chancellors to make sure that letters of admission are distributed by August 2nd, 2023. From August 3 to midnight on August 27, 2023, students will be able to apply for loans and bursaries thanks to this, according to the CS.
The government has successfully created and launched the Higher Education Financing Portal in response to the Presidential decree issued on May 3, 2023, on the implementation of the new funding model.
The platform is made to accept applications for loans, bursaries, and scholarships from TVET and university students.

The higher education funding site, which is available at www.hef.co.ke, is now the official place for all new students to file formal online requests for financial aid for higher education, according to Machogu.
He emphasised that the vulnerable and extremely needy students, who make up 29% of the student population enrolling in university and TVETs this year, will receive full financial support from the government under the new model.
CS Machogu further urged students to follow the deadlines in order to guarantee the prompt processing of scholarships and loans.
Fundamentally, grants and scholarships will now be given out according to need, much like loans have in the past. All scholarships, loans, and bursaries will be subject to means testing under the new funding model for each loan application. Added he.
