Government funding is not provided to students who opt for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs within universities, according to Agnes Wahome, the CEO of Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

Wahome explained that this category includes diploma and certificate programs offered within universities. She mentioned this during an interview on Citizen TV.

Around 200 TVET institutions under the Ministry of Education will still have access to government grants and loans, she clarified. This funding approach has been in place for some time.

William Ruto, referring to three student groups based on vulnerability and ability, highlighted that students from low-income families will now have equal access to higher education and TVET opportunities without requiring financial contributions from their households.
