Secondary School principal arrested for burning his 5-month old baby with fire

Police in Baringo County are holding a secondary school principal implicated in throwing his 5-month-old baby in a fire causing him serious injuries.

Paul Kipsang, who is the Principal at Katokon Secondary School in Tiaty, is said to have placed the baby on fire in his house at the Ngaratuko area under unclear circumstances.

According to Baringo North Sub-county Police Commander Fredrick Odinga, the teacher had run into hiding and was arrested on Monday night, 5 days after committing the cruel act.

The baby was admitted to the Baringo County Referral Hospital where he is healing burns on the face and sections of the body. The baby’s mother informed police that the husband has earlier issued death threats to the family particularly when he returns home drunk.

The suspect was detained at Loruk police station pending arraignment.
