Schools To Benefit From Free Masks By NMS

More than 30,500 needy pupils in Nairobi will benefit from the free mask distribution programme by the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS). At least one school from each sub-county will benefit from the program.

The project was launched by Major General Mohammed Badi. As part of the activities, each pupil will be given 2 face masks each according to NMS Health Services Director Dr Josephine Kibaru-Mbae.

The facemasks were provided to NMS by Kings Collection as part of the continuing Covid-19 sensitization exercise in learning institutions by NMS’s health team.

7,200 pupils from Reuben Primary School in Mukuru Kwa Reuben, St. Elizabeth Primary School, Muthurwa Primary School and Our Lady of Nazareth Primary School have already received the face masks.

“Hopefully we will finish the exercise by the end of this week. This was a donation given to NMS by Kings Collection but we are also looking for other partners to help us with more masks for distribution,” said Dr Kibaru-Mbae.

This comes even as Nairobi County continues to display the biggest brunt of Covid-19. Last month NMS started a six-week health outreach programme in collaboration with the Kenya Red Cross and Unicef. Residents in Nairobi benefitted from free medical services.
